Snopes'd Again!!

We use Snopes as ONE of the ways to vet contributors emails submissions. Other excellent sources are FactCheck (our favorite) and TruthorFiction. Politicians and the bored love to play on the instant news cycle and the gullibility of people who have passionate political views but not necessarily the time check things out thoroughly. One of the things we DO ensure. When we slip, our contributors and readers set us straight and we make the corrections necessary.

Some fun, look at the Snopes top 25 urban legends and count how many have been forwarded to you in your email. Keep in mind though, vet with multiple sources. Any single point like snopes can get something wrong.

How can Americans hate their own country

Is it a lack of comparative experience? I suppose if you've never been anywhere else in the world you might perceive the U.S. in some negative fashion. Any place can be improved of course and positive change is a good thing. However, why must people, like Michelle Obama cast negative aspersions on the most free, most prosperous and most egalitarian country in history? She only recently, in her 40s has reason to be proud of her country. She calls her country "downright mean". Does she KNOW any real Americans? Perhaps it is a lack of political sophistication or is a purposeful calculation to play on more ignorant citizens. The product of elite education who earns a 6 figure salary and lives in a million plus dollar home seems strange to denigrate the very country which made such possible for her.
